JUST SAVE LIVES : Your ego and your words have had their time. TIME'S UP

I despair that Tony Abbott is so wedded to being aggressive and adversarial that he is prepared to have people die rather than compromise to find a bipartisan solution to the asylum seeker problem. This rightly should be our shame around the world. Now here is a man who should be thrown out of Parliament and that no party should vote with. Here is a neanderthal narrow minded regressive personality falling consistently below the level of common humanity we should expect of our Parliamentary representatives.

Alice Springs : Australia's Irony Theme Park 3

“..The walk into the waterhole. Water is a sacred thing itself in this country. Nomadic tribal life as it was ended around 1977. This was when whole tribes associated with particular sections of the country cared for the land and kept the waterholes clear and useable and lived a genuinely nomadic, hunter gatherer existence. I recommend a true story documented in the DVD "The last Nomads" A beautifully moving account of a couple who had lived in desert country avoiding social contact for about 40 years as they had initially broken tribal law by marrying outside strict guidelines. The original footage of this couple held me spellbound as they demonstrated a dignity, mutual respect, low key humour and loving mutual consultation which seems to have devastatingly disappeared from the repertoire of the town indigenous population. Sitting aimlessly in the Mall in Alice Springs is not a traditional, tribal or nomadic occupation - and being moved on by the Police Patrols every ten minutes just made me deeply ashamed of how we treat our original inhabitants.” ~ From: “ Alice Springs : Australia’s Irony Theme Park”, Essay under construction by Lyndon Walker.
“I tried to show the chain that assists people to climb and how steep the climb is. While I was there a number of climbers underestimated the time and were scrambling to get down again around sunset - which is quite dangerous given the unrelenting face of the rock. About 38 have been killed attempting this and underestimating the task. Climbing is discouraged by the owners and custodians of the rock but they don't outlaw it entirely (as I had previously thought).” ~ From: “ Alice Springs : Australia’s Irony Theme Park”, Essay under construction by Lyndon Walker.

“...so I sit in the restaurant of the luxury resort next to the pool eating Kangaroo (very lean and healthy meat) and beetroot salad ($ 15) with local leaves and yams and bush cherry tomatoes such as grow in the Simpson Desert and once gathered by the Ninahs of the tribe while on Stott Terrace the Anganu men order diabetes with their deep fried KFC ($15)....” ~ From: “ Alice Springs : Australia’s Irony Theme Park”, Essay under construction by Lyndon Walker.
